Hello, I am enrolled in one of the ML course and having trouble in using graphlab create on the hosted ipython notebook to try out some of the analysis and assignments. when I load graphlab and try to use any function, I get a license error. Tried setting license key but still get same error. Appreciate any help

Hi @DZ7. Thanks for posting in the community. Have you also shared your question in your course discussion forum? It's possible someone else in the course can help, too.

Thanks Laura, I flagged it as a technical issue in one of the sections. Not sure if there's a separate forum in the course that I can post on, please let me know.

never mind, i figured out the forum inside the course. posted there as well. 🙂

Hello,
I am also following a Machine Learning course on Coursera. And I have the exact same issue.
GraphLab errors are really a time consuming issue for this training. I feel like I spend the same time following the training than fixing issues.

I could use my GraphLab license (for academic purpose) by following the exercices in the Python notebook on week 1 and 2. I thought the issues were behind me. But I am currently stuck in the week 3 where my license is not considered as valid anymore. And if I go back in my notebooks of week 1 and 2, it doesn't work anymore neither. 😞

> products = graphlab.SFrame('amazon_baby.gl/')

Nevertheless, I can see my license number when I use the command:
> graphlab.product_key.get_product_key()

So, my product key seems well registered in the notebook. It was working well 2 days ago but now it doesn't work anymore.

I checked the forum of the training. There are plenty of complaints about GraphLab usage because the installation in local computer is not working neither so we are forced to use the notebook where it should work. But here, I don't see any workaround except trying to use another library than GraphLab which is not the purpose of the course.

Can somebody help?

I finally managed to find a way to install a working GraphLab on my personal PC but it was a bit tricky and none of the documentation found on the Web was correct for my situation. I think I will explain what I did on the Forum of the course to help other students.

At least, in that way I could work on the coding assignment and end the week exercises. I just hope, it will continue to work for the rest of the training.

Nevertheless, I still have the same error, as described above, when trying to use GraphLab in the Notebook hosted on the Coursera platform.
