Connect with other learners who are working on the same courses as you to help each other stay on track!

Post here which Professional Certificate you are taking and which course you're currently working on and then check other people's comments to see if you can find anyone else at the same stage.

If you find someone, tag them in a post or send them a private message to see if you can be study buddies!

Great to see you all here, thanks for participating in this community! It looks like the majority of members so far are working on the IBM Data Science Professional Certificate, and it seems we have a small group who are all on course 5!

If you get stuck or you just want to discuss what you're learning with someone, now you know who to reach out to! Feel free to start new threads in this community or reach out to someone via private message.

As you probably know, this community is brand new so if you don't see anyone working on the same course or Professional Certificate as you, don't worry, there will likely be someone soon!

Hello All and Greetings,
I'm taking the IBM Data Science Professional Certification series and am about to start course #6. I would like to form or join a study cohort. Furthermore, I would like to start networking with those of you who are near Seattle, Washington. I intend a long-term effort to continue our networking in order to help each other as we enter the data science industry here in the Seattle area.
If you're interested, please let me know your thoughts.

Best wishes,
Eric Abbott

Hi all, I'm trying really diligently to break into a sustainable career in cybersecurity but it's been tremendously difficult and fraught with numerous speed bumps and forbidden doors. According to the BLS, there is a dearth of security professionals but at the same time, the path is lined with broken glass and IEDs. You can't get a job in cybersecurity **unless** you have a professional certificate preferably from the ISC2 and you can't get the ISC2 professional certificate **unless** you are already working in cybersecurity. Gosh, I cannot imagine WHY there is a shortage of security ppl in the country. /sarcasm

At any rate, Coursera currently has a professional certificate for the SSCP (systems security certified professional) which is comprised of 7 glorious weeks that will help prep the student to sit for the SSCP exam. I like the material but I don't know whether I will be able to find what the ISC2 is calling a "sponsor" someone who already has an ISC2 cert and wants to vouch for me in order to sit for the exam. And round and round we go. I suppose I will find out when I finish the class exactly how many hoops I will have to jump through in order to pursue the career. Even with zealous persistence, the industry clearly has no interest in welcoming newcomers to the club if they don't already have a contact on the inside. Makes the entire industry ::RIGGED:: in my opinion. Meanwhile, the industry cries about no "qualified" Americans which in turn lets them import H1B Visa workers who work for 50% less than what an American workforce would accept for possessing identical knowledge, skill sets & abilities.

I'm hoping for the best but I'm calling it as I see it.
