This is a place for Coursera learners to connect with one another and help each other achieve their learning and life goals.

We'd love to get to know you a bit better, so please introduce yourself! If you're stuck for things to say, here are a few ideas:

  • Where you're from or where you live now
  • What you're studying
  • Why you're studying
  • What your hobbies or interests are
  • What you’d like to get out of this community

Interested in meeting more community members? Here’s our first introductions thread.

To get things started, I’ve recorded a new video introducing myself as one of your Coursera Community managers. You can check it out here.

Right now I’m taking these two Coursera courses: Guided Imagery by the University of Minnesota and Reducing Gun Violence: Evidence for Change by Johns Hopkins.

Please introduce yourself! We’d love to meet you.

Hey there --

Nice meeting you all! I am from Italy and free Education at 360 deg is my biggest passion.

I am currently studying History of Rock (can’t find time to progress though), and the Tensorflow specialization (more progress on this!). I’ve used Coursera since 2013, when I was working for my PhD.

I recently decided to dedicate even more time to Education, and am preparing articles (like blog posts) that can help students like me with courses that I’ve already taken. I also plan on hosting free Q&A at some point. Here’s a list of topics I believe I can help with (ordered by self-assessed proficiency), so really just reach out if you are studying or think need help with any of them. I might add one more article around your question :)

  • Software Engineering
  • Numerical Optimization
  • Inferential Statistics
  • Machine Learning

Other than that, I like reading about economics, business and about the scientific aspects of endurance sports (marathon, triathlon, which I practice myself).

Cheers!

Pietro

Hi to everyone.

I'm Leye by name, and a Nigerian by nationality. I currently I'm running a BSc program in Biochemistry over here in Nigeria. Will be through in a couple of weeks.

I'm an open learner, and my interest spans across web development, into writing, up to music.

I have taken certain classes on HTML5, CSS, and bootstrap, but somehow I feel my knowledge of web development is not comprehensive enough. Which is why I'm taken new courses here on Coursera to acquire enough knowledge that can build me the sophisticated website I have in mind.

Although I'm yet to kickstart any courses on languages, still writing is more of a gift than it is a skill. Nonetheless I hope to find interesting courses that can add dynamics to my writings. I write fiction, non-fiction, articles and blog posts.

Music has my prime interest, and I'm learning guitar to support my vocals. My vocals are not quite strong, but my singing voice is quite pleasing. I'm taking a course here on Coursera to further deepens my knowledge of music and increase my choice of style.

I'm addicted to knowledge. And so, I look forward to learning a lot from this community, and also contribute the little I know.

Hey I’m Michael,

I’m currently a Digital Designer working @ The Agency Marketing Group in Charlotte, NC, USA. I’m working on introducing User Experience methods into my work and adding what I think is a crazy valuable tool to our company’s toolbelt. Currently, I am the “web” department so when it comes to design and development of websites I have to handle both. Its an interesting challenge that’s made me aware that how we design an interface may not be how it translates to development. In the real world, you have to know your development team’s limitations. And boy, am I painfully aware of my own limits.

I think product design is about bridging that gap in your team.

I’m taking this course to sharpen my skills, study with motivated people but I’d also love to connect just to nerd about design.

And last but not least (shameless plug) if you identify as one of these positions, we should talk! I’d think it’d be cool to form a multidisciplinary group. Its the dream team I’m hoping to pitch at work. I think it would work out well having a group that can speak to all sides of the problem.

I am Destiny Young from Nigeria, the second child in a family of 7 boys.

My life has been that of struggle most of the times, but my determination, focus, and enthusiasm for personal development have warranted my quest to use the possibilities of the internet to augment my academic and intellectual abilities. I originally wanted to be a civil engineer but along the line, I was challenged into IT by circumstance. Today, I have not regretted that I veered into IT.

I have interest in Cybersecurity, Cloud Computing, Network Engineering and Digital Forensics.

My academic and professional plans are to major in Cybersecurity and Cloud computing. I have HND and a BSc(Hons) both in Computer Science and a Master of Technology degree in IT from the University of South Africa. My master’s research focus was on Cloud Computing. I published an abridged version of that research HERE:

I have extensive industry experience, having worked in the IT domain for the past 10 years. I have never been satisfied with my level of IT knowledge hence the decision to continue to learn more.

It was in the course of my search for a cheap online learning option that I stumbled upon Coursera. The Google IT Support Certification Programme is my second completed course in coursera platform after the University of London course on Information Security: Context and Introduction.

I will not rest at this, I will build upon the foundation of this learning curve to get certified in related industry certifications to prove my competence to a prospective employer.

I am excited to be part of this learning community and shall at times be ready to contribute my part to make it a growing community.

Congratulations to all members of this community.

Hello World,

My name is Amit Agarwal and I am originally from India but now living in Paris for the last 10 years. I am an engineering graduate in telecommunications engineering and I work as a radio optimization engineer on 4G/5G. I woke up to data science and machine learning exactly a year ago (ie: last November) and I have been making progress at a turtle’s pace. I first enrolled in the Stanford Machine Learning but I still have to complete that. but then I started with the IBM Data Science and I managed to complete it last week. I have currently taken up the Neural Networks and Deep Learning course and working on it. I just realized that Coursera was founded by Andrew Ng himself and it would be inappropriate to leave his Machine Learning course unfinished. So, I am definitely going to try to complete them and make the most out of it. I also realized that Coursera is no longer coursera.com but coursera.org. It reflects greatly of a man who could have made hundreds of millions but rather decided to democratize and proliferate quality education globally with the focus on learning rather than just earning degrees or certificates.

My passion had always been mathematics but somehow I lost track of it since my engineering course but I am now trying to revive it and learning machine learning gives me a perfect excuse to work on my mathematics. I believe that mathematics gives you the additional vision to understand the world and the environment we live in and derive meaningful conclusions from it: be it problem solving or a decision making process or understanding how things work.

I hope everyone profits from this wonderful platform called Coursera.

Hello group! My name is Jennie and I’ve been traveling around the world for the past 4 years. Originally from Boston with a background in Human Resources. Truth be told, I’m computer illiterate at the moment and diving into a new world here amongst those that seem very knowledgeable in this arena. Hoping our interactions will provide me with the guidance needed to achieve this goal, and maybe I can provide others with new perspectives. This Coursera curriculum will be my first educational look at IT and hoping my natural ability to analyze and problem solve will move me along quickly.
