Hi! My name is Linda and I live in Albany, NY. I am currently enrolled in the Age of the Great Cathedrals course (free version). I got interested in learning about Gothic architecture after seeing the fire at Notre Dame. I've always loved art, old buildings and the like. I also used to do some amateur freelance photography, so I guess it is a natural progression of sorts.

I am going to be 52 in a couple of months. I'm a housewife, mom to 3 grown children and 4 grandchildren. I used to work as a medical assistant but can no longer work due to my anxiety.

Online courses work for me because I can move at my own pace and take a break from classes as needed. I'd never be able to juggle "regular" college classes because of my anxiety. This way, I can learn new things but not become overwhelmed.

I look forward to continued learning and growing! 😊💖

Hi everyone,

The name's Rafael Daulet, and I am in M&A in Asia Pacific. Being a teacher required me to learn a lot, so I studied through management, marketing, strategical development, applied psychology, finance, economics, public speaking, and sales. I have come a long way to be where I am now, diving into the world of mergers and acquisitions, venture capital, private equity firms, auditors, and the likes thereof.

Needless to say, Coursera has always been part of my professional trajectory:)

I live in Asia, I am 34, and my hobby is attracting investment.

Should you have any questions, drop a line or two straight away!:)

Regards,
Rafael

Hi,
I'm Eric and I'm a retired university lecturer and IT consultant who started programming using punch cards and paper tape. Apart from IT, I've a Masters in TESOL and a few qualifications in Psychology.

I've done several courses at Coursera and edX and I have an idea that's leading me down the Python, R, IoT, and Data Science pathways. I expect to spend the next 18mths getting my obsolete IT skills upto date before I do a Masters and possibly a PhD in Sports Analytics.

I play Chess and Table Tennis and used to be a professional soccer player in the dim dark past. My wife's a poet who speaks several languages including Japanese. She lived in Japan for five years and we owned a Japanese restaurant in Melbourne Australia for 7 years in the 1980s. are

Our three children are all OK. We were lucky, but we looked after them.

Now we have the NBN (National Broadband Network) I've decided to get stuck in at Coursera first.
I'm doing a couple of Python courses (Michigan & Ontario) and IoT (UCI).

My IoT courses have no mentor or discussion group and while I've ground through all the 'hurdle requirements' (videos, quizzes etc) I'd like to discuss the hardware assignments (Arduino + Raspberry Pi) as I'm a software person. I'm particularly interested in Micropython and the Adafruit hardware.

Well that's enough about me for now.

Hi everyone. I'm Kai. Nice to be here. Thought I'd take a peek at our new community space. It's been on my bookmarks bar for months but I'm only now getting around to dropping in and saying hi. I've been a mentor since the fall of 2016. I mentor two courses in human-centered interaction design. I'm also a consultant, writer and instructional designer based in Spokane, WA.

I've found mentoring courses and taking courses on Coursera very rewarding. It's such a great place to meet others who are passionate about my interests. And there's lots of learning opportunities of course. I think what I like best about the courses is being able to complete them at a pace that works for me. I started the Interaction Design Specialization (8 courses) in 2015. I still have two to finish. But along the way, I've used the skills I've developed in those courses in my academic and work life and have subsequently taught them to others. I think that platforms like Coursera are an essential resource for professionals, a way to keep our skills up-to-date. And for me I also found it helpful to take supplemental courses concurrently in college to give me a broader view of a topic. It helped me a lot when I was struggling in my stats course to take a stats course on Coursera as well.

Anyway, hello and welcome to everyone! ☺

-Kai

Hey there 👋

I'm Kashish from India. It's really nice to be here and get to know all of you. This is my first time taking a course on Coursera and I decided to go with Machine Learning by Prof. Andrew NG. I choose ML as I'm going to apply for a Masters in Artificial Intelligence later on and I thought some light study on the topic might be a good idea.

It has always been a no brainer for me when it comes to interesting technologies and the idea of bringing cool science fiction tech to life.

If you're also taking a same or similar course, let's get in touch.
I'd love to hear what you think about it and plan to do after you finish the course.

Hope you have a wonderful day ahead 😁
