Hi everyone,

Please do we have Groups/Forums for MENTORS? I would like to know because I've got stuffs to discuss. Links will be appreciated also.

If you are a Mentor in the course "Introduction to Data Analysis Using Excel" please indicate below.
Thank you.

Hi @Terry , here is the link for Coursera mentors: courseramentors.slack.com . It will lead you to create a Slack account I suppose. If there are any problems, you may need to email the community team to be invited officially. They used to invite mentors who completed the mentor training course regularly up until May sometime this year. Due to GDPR rules, it was stopped. There is a thread about it I think in the Mentor Portal. However, it is still possible to join by asking the community team. I hope this helps.

PS: My earlier message sentence had a typo: I meant to say: "In addition there’s Slack, which is again only for mentors, which you may already know too." 😊

@Terry

Hi there

Claire has been looking into this, but at the moment there is not a space specifically for mentors. There is one for the Data community, though. So, you can try your luck there, or in the course Mentor Forum.
Hope you manage!

Hi @Terry ,

Following what Scotty wrote: there’s also the Mentor Portal still, the discussion forums of mentors training course, where mentors discuss various things, which you may already know. In addition there’s Slack, which is again only for mentors, which you know too. All the best.

@Denise thank you for your contributions. I'm not sure I know what "Slack" is 🤔
Could you please share the link with me if you have it?

Thank you 😊

Happy to be of some help @Terry . Slack also has a domain for data science where you may find mentors related to your course too.

My apologies for the typo. Not sure how that happened, using my mobile phone and its small screen are to blame probably. I will try to be more careful next time. 😊

The forums specifically for Mentors is inside the Mentor Training Course.

https://www.coursera.org/learn/mentor-community/discussions/

Until a Mentor's only area is made in the new Community forums, the Mentor's Only section still exists inside the Mentor Training Course.

The Mentor's Only section includes: General Discussion, Suggestions & Feature Requests, News & Updates; etc.
I agree that the best place to meet mentors is in the old community, which @Kebin highlighted for you, @Terry . The only thing to be aware of is that not everyone is a mentor there yet. Many have just been invited to become one to take the course. You will find many discussions pertinent to the challenges of being a mentor.

Can you kindly share the link for the program “Coursera Mentor Community & Training Course “

Hi @Dhaval Chheda You have to be invited to be a mentor and access that course. I do not believe that they are currently recruiting, however.

Alright. Thanks for the information @Halla . Kindly let me know if you come across the enrollments for that program in future.

@Dhaval Chheda the best way to become a mentor for a class, if that is what you are interested in doing, is to take that class and do well in that class and participate in the forums, both here and in your class forums. If they decide to start recruiting again at a later date, that is what will be looked for. Meanwhile, there are many, many other courses you can take on Coursera, just have a look at what interests you in the catalog. Happy learning.!
