Disgusting the way that coursera charges!!!

Thinking that I’m paying a one fee $50 for my course, it became a monthly subscription without me noticing the charge for 3 months. I don’t have to mention that I haven’t used it for even a week!!! Total bulls*. Cancelling everything and coursera never more!!!!!!!!!

Hello @Sofrvstr4edwcour53ra, I’m really sorry to hear about that.

My best guess is that you paid for a course included in a Specialization, which required a monthly subscription that grants you access to every course in the Specialization.

You can read more about this here.

You can contact support for further help, as suggested by @ATP.

To do so, enter the Help Center and log in from the top right corner. Then, look for the option to contact “Contact us” at the bottom of this article.

Hi, yes you can leave any moment. [Text removed by moderator]

I am sure that you didn’t pay enough attenction in what kind of fee you subscribed.

Remember you can always pay at the end of a course and only if you want a certificate.

Best luck

Hi @Sofrvstr4edwcour53ra, I can understand your frustration and believe me, a lot of us have been there - not remembering to cancel sth or not reading the instructions clearly.

Still, I’d like to recommend doing 2 things:

  1. Reach out to Coursera and explain your situation (i.e. that you haven't understood the terms correctly, if that’s the case).

Even though the refunds technically aren’t being provided after the 14 days from the start of the course, I’ve heard from other learners that in special circumstances you might be refunded also after this date, at least sometimes. No harm in trying, just try to communicate respectfully, as it increases your chances for productive response: https://learner.coursera.help/hc/en-us/articles/360036160591-Get-Help-with-Coursera

  1. DO NOT delete your account without cancelling the subcription first! This is really important: https://coursera.community/pro-tips-87/deleting-your-account-won-t-cancel-your-subscription-17780.

In short, when you delete your account first, your subcription stays active in the Coursera system and you’ll keep getting charged, but you’ll lose the ability to stop the charges from coming (as your panel will be deleted). If you’ve already done this, though, don’t worry, you can sort it out by contacting the Support under the link provided above.
