It has been  a whole year since the world declared the pandemic. Our lives have all changed drastically. The entire entertainment world had to go virtual in order to survive.Audiences learned to watch live streaming concerts that were created virtually.
Thinking back over this year.…

As a musician, how did you cope with it? Were you able to overcome some of these challenges? How?

As a music appreciator, did you spend more time listening and learning about music?
Did you learn how to play an instrument, having more time at home? Did you take Coursera courses?

What have you learned as a result of this pandemic year?

Thanks.

Hi @Judith

Last year was definitely stressful, and it’s still continuing,

I started learning piano in 2013. But since the declaration of lockdown, my classes have stopped. I have tried practicing myself, but there is something about real classes that you can’t learn on your own. You need that special guidance.

I took three courses of the Specialization, Developing Your Musicianship by Berklee College of Music. It’s a must try! I took them so that I could continue playing something and stayed under practice in a fun way.

Since I am in Grade 8 of Trinity College London, which is the last and final grade, I feel bad that I could not give the exam and finish the process. I don’t know when that will happen again. I can only wait. Meanwhile, why studies are increasing and I have to give my full time towards my career (which is not music). So it gets more difficult to get time for practice.

Patience and perseverance, are what I have learned as a result of this pandemic. I think these lessons will go a long way in life.

Regards.

@Archisha Bhar , in addition to patience and perseverance, optimism is essential. You need to be able to feel that there is that light at the end of the covid tunnel we are in. You have that. I admire how you have kept music in your life, even though it is not your career. I can assure you that music is a lifelong adventure that will fill you with joy during times of stress. I wish you the very best of success.

You are correct, @Judith. Optimism is the key. And also remembering that when one door closes, many more open. We need to find those! I could not be a part of Coursera had it not been for the pandemic. And this has opened a whole new world for me! Everything has at least one positive side to it!
