I completed Covid-19 contact Tracing course yesterday through coursera.

In the course the host describes how covid -19 spreads.,and help stop spread precaution.

I was intrigued to know what the speaker meant when they said that , it spreads by singing. We can also say ,  we can carry virus while broadcasting over media , cause even that opens mouth., for droplets .

So what was the intent to make such attacking and biased remark that it spreads by singing.

I mean i sing electronically in the prison of my room , during spare time , and spend time .

Are they suggesting that even that is a crime against public or community?  Its without getting any compensation ,i make cover versions , which i delete , in 2 days , in case even that may , probably hurt copyrights.

When in fact im promoting original songs , but nevertheless, what do people want , us , to curl and suffocate in room , and then u say you have covid 19 , and treat them.?

I was horrified by the suggestion to not sing .

We are educated we know our public duty towards self and society. Dont need directions so specific. Do you want to say , all people sing ?

I am concerned.

Please take my feedback.

Regards

Dhaval Vyas

What? Your comments lack common sense! If you talk or sing or sneeze, anything that opens your MOUTH and you are not distancing 2 metres or wearing a face covering, community transmission/soread of COVI19 can ensue! I hope you didn’t complete the Contact Tracing course to expect employment anywhere, because your coents cause me, a medical professional, to question your basic level of cognition, comprehension & learning capacity! Yikes

@JHK   glad to meet a medical professional here.  Since you answered @Dhaval Vyas question, I wonder if I can have your thoughts on my post and put your thoughts there

@Dhaval Vyas  you are welcome to put your thoughts on my post too.

Meanwhile, do sing as much as you like in your own room.  Your voice, ie sound wave does not carry any virus.  Virus is biological whereas sound wave when recorded becomes electromagnetic wave which cannot carry virus.  In short, don’t be alarmed singing in your electronic meeting with others in the same electronic meeting.  Enjoy your singing!

very disturbing post and I hope someone addresses it! As JHK wrote, a lack of common sense should prohibit you from posting on here.  And viewing it as an attack is what is really scary.

@JHK  and all others in response to your replies  above to my post

All i have to say is , Wish you all the best . I think my point was clear, in our enthusiasm for implementing public health , it must not offend or disturb private behaviour , so far its not affecting public good.

As i am an advocate i am watching the human rights impact of this entire covid-19 era with keen interest , and get concerned whenever i see the balance tilt against the public liberty ,and rights.

We were not meant to be sacrificing rights to become privileges (which is given rather then inheriting by birth).

However we do understand that its an exception now and therefore all those which were our rights are suddenly controlled by a few persons .

I have no problem , for public safety , i have problem to misuse it for ulterior purpose in the name of public safety , which is an offence  in itself., and watch out for where that balance tilts and gets too rigid or nosy.

@Dhaval Vyas , we are dealing with a dangerous virus. We are struggling to figure out how to prevent it from spreading and killing others. If you are outside at a distance away, wearing a mask, you will be safer than if you are singing together in a chorus of people. By projecting so much air, if you have this virus, you are spreading it faster than if you didn’t sing. The research shows this. Many more people became infected by it at a chorus rehearsal than other places.

Does this mean you shouldn’t sing? Of course not, but it means you shouldn’t sing in a group of you want to be safe. I sing in a chorus and we have all been upset we can’t get together. So we put together a virtual chorus and have just produced a song. We hope to produce a performance for  December. How it works is everyone sings in their own home to a given accompaniment. You send this to someone who mixes it and puts it together. The result is you have your chorus back!

We are a community who needs to look out for one another. We need to wear masks, for example, because it is proven that they work. Any kinds of large gatherings, such as parties or religious services or weddings, seem to spread this virus. Singing is just another proven way this virus easily spreads. This doesn’t mean your personal freedom is being taken away. You are keeping your community and yourself safe. You wear a seatbelt to be safe too. We need to work together to prevent others from getting sick and dying now.

No one is telling you you can’t sing. You just can’t sing safely next to any person...so enjoy singing at home or create a virtual chorus!

Hopefully by this time next year, we will all be singing together again.
