A New Course with Free Certificate: COVID-19 Contact Tracing 🔊

Hi everyone,

I came across this article which features a new Coursera course. COVID-19 Contact Tracing (offered by Johns Hopkins) provides a promotion option right now which enables you to earn a free Course Certificate. As stated in the FAQ section, “you will need to enroll via a web browser on either a computer or a mobile device and not via the Coursera mobile app to enroll for the course and certificate for free. Unfortunately, the promotional price is not redeemable through the mobile app”.

If you have not taken the course, don’t miss the chance! If you’ve already taken the course, feel free to share your takeaway in the comment section. :point_down:

Stay safe!

P.S. Make sure you have this sentence on your screen when enrolling: Your promotion will be applied at checkout

Thank you..

I took the course and liked it.

Is it just me or is the cut-screen music (the swelling orchestral movement with resolution) from Star Trek?

Also, there is an error in the test question about what do you use for beginning and end of isolation: it should say “select all that apply” but didn’t when I took it on  5/11/2020.

Sorry to hear that, but I didn't encounters any problem, whatsoever I did I got it correct. However I hope you found a solution.

I took the Contact Tracer Training, which was very good, but even though I got the message “your promotion will be applied at checkout - I still had to pay $49 for my Certificate, and there is no place to email to ask for a credit.

I also just finished the Contact Tracer Training and wonder how to get the certificate for free. It looks like it is actually $49. Has anyone figured out how to access the certificated for free?

I tried for more than an hour - and even though it said “promotion applied at checkout,” it never was. Since I am applying for jobs, I wanted the certificate and ended up paying for it, which was very frustrating, considering I’m sure many of us are underemployed or unemployed right now. I also could find no way to contact Coursera to ask for a credit. I contacted JHU,  but of course, they are not running the checkout procedure, so, not sure they could help anyway.

I finished successfully two days ago, but I didn't have to pay anything, I used the course rather app, I got my Grade and a successful congratulation message, you can contact the administrator to guide you in that respect.

I also try to acquire the certificate, but that was unsuccessful.

I did not use the app. I did the course on my laptop. I completed the course. I got my grades. I got the congratulations message. A congratulation message is different from the course certificate.

Yes - so looks like a lot of people are not able to get the free certificate. Hmmm...

Sorry to hear that. I tested it just today, and it worked properly. In the FAQs section, too, it's stated, as you can view:

@heather3794, @Suzing, and @Fou, please contact the support team and explain what you experienced. Hopefully, they'll look into this for you. If you don't know how to reach them, do let me know.

How do you contact the “support team”? I could not find any email addresses, it says you can chat, but I never found that either. The only email address I could find was for media inquiries.

@Maryam , thank you for this info. How do I contact support? Thanks again!

@heather3794, you are welcome.

@Suzing, here are the steps:

Please open this Help Article:

https://learner.coursera.help/hc/en-us/articles/209819083-Solve-problems-with-payments

Click Contact Us. It is located at the end of the article. Then, select the email option. You'll be able to submit a query. Note that the support team is dealing with a lot of requests. So you may need to wait for at least a few days. Hopefully, they will get back to you soon.

@Fou, but I saw the free certificate option when enrolling.
