Hello Coursera,
I saw your invitation to become an Instructor. I really appreciate it because it’s an opportunity opens up to us project professionals.
However, we who have French as a first language and the language we master, must we develop our projects in French or do we necessarily have do it in English?
Thank you for answering me.
Regards,

Hi @Janvierablo and @Lochcarron - thank you for your questions.

If selected, instructors are paid on a per-project basis, based on their experience, domain, and number of projects they will create.

Regarding the language, at the moment we are focused on creating projects in English. In the future, we may extend the offerings to other languages too.

Please refer to this page https://teach.coursera.org/ and the FAQs for more information.

Dear:

why engaging people in new rubbish?  there are courses with mistakes and lacks still not corrected ….  I hold a bachelor degree in Financial Engineering , a data science corporate badge From IBM, a master badge from World bank group…

i have encountered several of the courses running simulations on shares or bonds prices , they resort to either math or data models, neglecting black swans… So thus, the model and the simulation are flawed and therefore the martingale or martingales…

Should new project instructors collaborate to fix some of  the flaws surrounding STEM education?

Can we have an estimation, what would be a payment for a project, e.g. $10, $100, $1000, $1+ commissions ?

It might take a few full days of work to prepare an instructional project. On the other hand, it’s difficult to make people enroll and pay, as there is so much free content on the internet.

Why don’t these courses come in Beta Testing ?

Can somebody explain to me what exactly Project Instructors do?

@Alex Margos,

Using rhyme costs $0.19 to $0.39 per 15 mins usage (based on the type of cloud used). My question now is, if we accepted as Project Instructors, are we going to pay to create that project or Coursera will provide free access to rhyme (as ryhme.com acquired by coursera)?

Hi everyone! Great questions!

@UsamaFoad   - Coursera will provide free access to Rhyme. So no cost will be incurred to selected instructors.

@Chanchal Kumar Maji - At the moment, beta testing is not available for Coursera Projects, as we want to ensure the courses produced by our University and Industry partners receive beta testing support.

@Irina_  - If selected, instructors are paid on a per-project basis, based on their experience, domain, and number of projects they will create. With that in mind, we work closely with the applicants to ensure instructors are competitively compensated for their work.

@kika  - Instructors are responsible to create ~1 hour long projects on Coursera leveraging a platform called Rhyme. Rhyme is a hands-on learning platform that Coursera acquired in 2019. With Rhyme, learners can follow along the instructor’s instructions at their own pace while simultaneously completing the project on a pre-configured Windows or Linux cloud desktop. Instructors will complement the Rhyme experience with a reading and a graded quiz on Coursera.

To get a better idea of what these hands-on projects look like, we’re offering this exciting promotion now through March 31, while supplies last.

Hi @Alex Margos, thanks for your time and responses. A quick question.
I applied already to become a project instructor last week upon receiving an email from the Coursera team but didn’t provide a teaching video as the field was not required at that time. Upon accessing the form earlier today, I realized that field has been marked as a required field. So is it alright to reapply, so that I can provide the video?

Hi @EM Donaldson ! Thank you for your question. You are correct, due to the very large number of applications, we have now marked that field as mandatory for new applications, as it will help us streamline our review process.

If you have already applied, you can submit a video recording by amending your application or re-applying. Note that it is not a requirement but it can improve your candidacy.

Hi @Alex Margos,

I received an email from Coursera about a month ago and I've been invited to join the project instructors. I've submitted the form at the time but didn't receive any email confirmation..can you update me or confirm my submission gone through?

I’ve contacted the support centre and they told me to post my question here in the community post.

Many thanks,

Martina

Hello Mr. @Alex Margos and Ms. @Laura,

I would like to inquire about the project instructors' participation criteria for the institute I am working with.

I am working with the Taiwan International Healthcare Center (TIHTC), which is a government based training center for international medical professionals. Every year we provide hands-on Project Training Programs in the expertise of Traditional Chinese Medicines, Digital Health, and Healthcare Management. However, as the global pandemic of the COVID, our trainees are not possible to come overseas due to the disturbance of border controls.

Therefore we would like to publish online courses for our potential trainees on Coursera. I am wondering if I should apply under the name of the institute or using my personal account. Please also advise me on how to enhance our candidacy and if it is proper to sign a contract with us. Thank you!

Best regards,

Beijen HSU
