Hi,

I can’t but recommend the following book

(Suggestion 1) Algorithms, 4th Edition by Robert Sedgewick and Kevin Wayne

Keep in mind that the two authors also have a class on Coursera: https://www.coursera.org/learn/algorithms-part1

There’s one book I remember tries to almost avoid any mathematical detail, so it might be a good start if you don’t like heavy formalisms:

(Suggestion 2) Real-World Algorithms: A Beginner's Guide (The MIT Press)

When I was in college, I used this one

(Suggestion 3) Introduction to the Design and Analysis of Algorithms (McGraw-Hill Computer Science Series)

but it’s heavier in terms of the mathematical details (theorems and proofs). It would still be my top choice though.

Also, Coursera has a whole specialization on Algorithms. I haven’t taken it, but may be worth checking out.
