Unable to pay for subscription or specialization from India

Badge +1

Hi, I have tried using my local debit card to take a subscription for a specialization on coursera. I have tried using my card also with UPI app. Nothing worked. Can any give me suggestions? or Is it that we cannot register for courses with specializations from India?

Thanks and Regards

Pavan

Hi @pavan12 and @salahny,

The Coursera team is aware that learners from India may be experiencing difficulties when paying. It’s related to a recurring online transactions directive of RBI, as explained here. If you are using Razorpay, please try another method. If nothing works, then you probably have to wait for now.

Hope this helps.

Hi @Noname. If I gain any new info on this, I’ll post an update here.

Update - The latest info I've gained:

For now, learners in India can only use Razorpay to purchase courses. They’ll need to use a Visa/Mastercard to pay for Specializations.

How to use Razorpay for making subscription payment for Coursera professional certificate course?

Userlevel 7

Hello @Dattamurti, as far as I’m aware, Indian learners can only use Razorpay for individual course payments. A Professional Certificate is not an individual course, so you won’t be able to pay with Razorpay.

If you need more help, I suggest that you contact support for assistance.

To do so, enter the Help Center and log in from the top right corner. Then, look for the option to contact “Contact us” at the bottom of this article.

One can use VPN to process all Indian transactions in these cases

@manavsplace VPN worked for me , Will it effect in any way to obtain the certificate ?

@Vishmahto No it should not

@manavsplace I assume you used vpn to appear you’re from outside India. I am curious if you faced any issues for making recurring payments. To clarify, if you made the initial payment let’s says in the last month, did coursera automatically deduct payment for the current month or you had to manually initiate a new payment again under a vpn connection?

In addition, did you enable your debit card to allow International transactions by chance?
