Specialisation- capstone project

HI,

I enrolled in the Genomic Data Science specialisation and finished 7/8 courses. The 8th one is the Capstone project course which was closed(open for enrollment after I finished all 7 courses). 

The capstone project will be in session from January 25th -April 4th. I do not want to continue paying for the capstone project until then.( I can’t even access the materials until it is in session). 

Can someone please confirm if this is valid even if I cancel the subscription after I enrolled in the capstone project:

If the Capstone Course for that Specialization is closed (meaning you can only access the Capstone Course after completing all courses in that Specialization), you'll still have free access to the Capstone Course for 180 days after the auto-cancellation. If the Capstone Course is not closed, you will lose access to it once your subscription auto-cancels.

If you want to stop your subscription payments before you complete the Specialization, you can cancel your subscription. -

Hi @Gayathri_P. If you never canceled your subscription before reaching your closed Capstone course, you will receive 180 days of access to the Capstone course for free upon receiving Certificates for every course before it. 

This should also automatically cancel your subscription to prevent further charges.

HI,

Capstone project will be available when a session starts. And, If you have paid for the complete specialization course and the Capstone is not available during the period allowed to complete the specialization (usually one year), you will get 180 days to complete the Capstone when the course starts.

On the other hand if you are paying monthly subscription, you can either cancel it and later pay the course fee for the Capstone separately when it starts, or start subscribing later. Yes, once you completed all the courses in that Specialization you can able to apply Financial Aid for Capstone course.

Hi Jose,

Thank you for your reply. I just received an email from Coursera saying that I have been “Unsubscribed upon completion”. I am guessing that I now have access to the capstone course for 180 days without having to apply for financial aid. Can you please confirm that?

Hello @Gayathri_P. I would suggest contacting a support agent so they can look at your account and provide accurate information.

To do so, enter the Help Center and log in from the top right corner. Then, look for the option to contact “Contact us” at the bottom of this article.
