Google IT Professional Certificate Incentive Offer - 150 Dollar Gift Card: Has Anyone Gotten It?


Hello,

I didnt find any posts or discussions about this topic and Coursera support mentioned that there were several people having this issue, so I wanted to ask. Is anyone having issues receiving their one hundred fifty dollar Visa gift card from Coursera? (For people who aren’t aware, you can participate in a “incentive program” to earn a gift card after finishing the Google certificate program)

I havent gotten it either, and finished the course over a month ago. Emailed them again about it this morning and just got a reply back saying they are having problems with sending them out on their end?

 

Not really sure what thats all about. Makes me wonder if it is actually real or not considering. I had not even gotten a confirmation about it when i finished the course. I had to initially contact them to make sure I wasnt missing something. 

I finished it over three months ago. Every time I contact them, they have told me to “wait a few days”. I give them a week and no reply.

Now they are saying it’s a problem on Google’s end.

Really starting to sound like a bunch of bs now. Which, honestly its weird. You cant really say its a "scam" because at the end of the day you still got your certificate, assuming its actually worth anything in the 1st place.

Then they lure you in with it saying if you finish within a certain time you will get it. Which on the surface you would think it would go against them, as the quicker you finish, the less they make due to their business model of a monthly subscription. But maybe they throw the promise of 150 back, to keep people who would otherwise cancel and not finish to keep paying, while not actually delivering what they promised.

I have the same situation as you all. I accepted the incentive and had to finish the course by November... I finished in late June lol. But I haven't received any sort of notification about receiving the gift card yet. What email address are you guys contacting coursea with? They have a terrible contact us page with nothing for customer support issues like this...

Really starting to feel we have been duped. This is suppose to be a large, well known legit company, and it seems like they are feeding us lies. And if they are lying about this, what else are they lying about?

And its even more frustrating considering the times we are living in now. Think of how many people are put of work, and are using that time here to try bettering themselves. And then get lured in with a promise of a few extra bucks, either to help offset the cost or put a few extra badly needed dollars back in their pockets. And having those promises, those agreements just not happen because it was all smoke and mirrors.

 

When I had 1st contacted them, and they said the gift card would be EMAILED, as opposed to mailed, that kinda through me off. I have never heard of such a thing. Then when they said you should receive in within a month. Ok, most rebate cards from places they say 4-6 weeks, but they also mail you a card.

 

They said to contact if I hadnt gotten anything within a month. Its been over a month, I contacted and now I get this "we are having issues and theres no timeframe to when it will be fixed" message.

 

Seems to me it was all lies, and they never had any intention to give anyone anything to begin with. Im sure filing a complaint wont work. Not a good look on their business practices though. And I for one wont be using them for anything else, and will advise anyone else not to either.

So IDK if a google issue, if its a coursea issues, if they are pointing fingers at each other to blame, or if there never was a gift card in the 1st place. 🤷‍♂️

I have some people at Google that I will try to get in contact with and try to shake some trees over there. I will let you guys know if there is any significant progress.

I completed the incentive commitment back in February and received my Google IT Automation with Python certificate (improperly formatted) in late March and still haven’t received the $150 gift card. I’ve contacted Coursera several times about this over the past few months and still haven’t received an explanation as to the whereabouts of the gift card. Initially, I was told to wait another month. After another month passed, I was then told to follow up with Google. When I asked Coursera who the appropriate person or department at Google was to contact regarding this issue they never gave me an answer. The terms and conditions of the incentive offer say that Coursera is the administrator of the program, so it’s perplexing why none of us have been able to get a straight answer out of Coursera regarding this.

Is it a coincidence that I get my first update after I create a post about it? Probably, but while not a solution, I see this as a step in the right direction.

Not at the moment, but as I stated, I received the email saying that I should expect it in 2-3 weeks, which we are still well within the timeframe of. I am going to give Coursera the benefit of the doubt and let the 3 weeks pass before following up.

After literal months of contacting Coursera, my gift card has arrived. It seems that it is very good timing that I receive my gift card right after this discussion post starts, but it might just be a coincidence.

If anyone has not gotten the gift cards that they were promised, I am happy to help in any way I can.

I just finished the Google IT Support program about 3 weeks ago and I still haven't received anything as well, not sure how to contact Coursera directly but I see that someone mentioned it's on Google's end but I'm not sure where to contact them about this problem.

That’s great Stella! I hope I would get the card soon as well! For Senk and Bvss I would say go to the help center here: https://learner.coursera.help/hc/en-us and then request talking about when the card would come, that’s what I did.

Has anybody else received their gift card? 

 

I finished the course in May and still haven't received the gift card. I contacted them about this at the beginning of August and was told that the gift cards would be sent out "within the next 2-3 weeks". Well, 3 weeks later... still no gift card. Very disappointing.

I also got the same message and still haven’t got the card they told me by Sunay they will give it to me and Sunday has passed :( I texted them again and the customer service sent my message to the Support Team, but no response. I am very disappointed with them as well

I finished this course back in May of this year and have yet to receive anything. Seeing how it’s September 1st, I would hope some kind of update would be sent out in regards to this. Keeping my fingers crossed we all hear or receive something soon.

On August 25, I received an email from Coursera titled “Reminder from Google: Follow through on your commitment”. The email reminded me that I had committed to completing the course by August 31, 2020, and noted that I would receive my $150 award from Google when I finished. I finished the course back in May and have been waiting for it since then. Has anybody else gotten this reminder?

I completed the course on July 10 and have not received the gift card.  I did receive the reminder email.  How do you get in touch with someone at coursera?  I have looked many times and can't find any way to contact anyone, and the email in the comment above always bounces back that its a no reply and go to the help center.

How do you email coursera?  I have looked 10 times and can not find any contact info.  The email stated above always bounces back and says its not monitored.  I completed course July 10 and still no card.
