Financial Aid option not there!

Badge +1
Hello, there is a course I want to apply for financial aid on, the strange thing that, when I am logged out the option is there and I can click it, but when I login when it asks me, it disappears.

Is there something causing this or Is it a bug or something?

Thank you.

@TalaatA, @fjkiani, @anmoltripathi – This is a known technical issue. Our team is working to resolve it. A big thanks to @Maryam for sharing a workaround:

I think if you click the Enroll button, you'll see an "audit" link. When you click it, you'll be taken to the course page where you can see the course materials in the audit mode. Then, you'll need to come back to the home page to see the "financial aid" link. Have you tried it?

This Help Article states that "while you wait for your application to be reviewed, you can begin the course immediately in audit mode or free mode. The review process may take up to 15 days".

Known technical issues, including this one, are shared in this thread: Known Technical Issues.

I cannot see the financial aid option for any course whatsoever on Coursera. Although in the course/specialization, it shows that financial aid is available , there is no option button to apply. I have applied for aid earlier and got approved but recently I noticed this, anyone know what's up?
Thanks

If you suspect a “bug” then please contact the Help Center. They should also be able to help you get the application for financial aid.

I believe you are only eligible for financial aid for one course at a time so that could be a reason why the option disappears when you log in. Your best bet is to confirm with the help center as @Judith suggested.

Please be advised, from the link Lochcarron posted:

"Financial Aid and Free Trials

Your financial aid application will be cancelled if you start a free trial while it is being reviewed."

So, if you apply for financial aid, don't sign up for the 'free trial' during that process.

If you enroll in a specialization, the discount for financial aid only applies on the first course in the series for the specialization; this is also something else you may wish to have in mind (if it applies).

The information I stated above is found on the same page that Lochcarron posted, I just thought I should highlight a couple parts in case it may apply to someones situation.

Thank you!

I'm facing the same problem. Financial aid option option is unavailable for my account although I've not enrolled in any courses till now, actually I'm new to Coursera and also I got no option for Name verification by government ID.

I get approved financial aid for my first course. Today, I received my certificate for the course.
But now I want to apply financial aid for another course, but I can not find "Financial code" option (near Enroll button) for any course. I check many courses. They all disappear mysteriously.

@Nhan , you can only take one course at a time if you are getting financial aid. Since you just finished a course, the system might not have recognized this yet. You need to speak to someone in the Help Center to resolve this. Make sure you press the blue Live Chat button so you can get immediate help. You can find the Help Center along the top right of this page. Please let us know what happens.

For future reference, you can get more infomation about the program from the following page:

https://learner.coursera.help/hc/en-us/articles/209819033-Apply-for-Financial-Aid

You can also use this URL to check for any updates for an application already submitted at:

Thank you, I had requested them my question because they don't have a Live chat anymore. I realize that now just only a few courses they offer me Financial aids. I think they try to make me purchase.
@Nhan , yes they do have live chat. I just checked. You need to log in though. If you don’t log in you won’t see this option. Look at the top of the page, you will see the log in option.

Should anyone here needs more information about how that option works; you can review:

Apply for Financial Aid--"If you can’t afford to pay for a Certificate, you can apply for Financial Aid through the link on the course home page. You can also view most course materials for free using the audit mode."

This page has all the information.

Keep in mind, should you elect to take a specialization course, the financial aid applies only to the first course in the series of the specialization [typically 4-6 courses in one group].

Also, typically, you can only use the financial aid option on one course at a time. Should you have more than one course you are interested in (and need financial aid for both), you would take the courses one after the other; rather than concurrently (at the same time).

Let us know if you need anything else. Thanks!

I just created an account and wanted to enroll in the Cyber Security Specialization by University of MaryLand.
I have not yet enrolled in the course yet, since I wanted to apply for a financial aid, but I cannot see any option which says financial aid.

Although the FAQ clearly states that the financial aid is applicable.
Any help?

I am facing the same problem. As soon as I am not logged in, the financial aid available is there but just after logging in, it vanishes. What is the solution? My friend tried to apply for the financial aid but he faced the same issue despite that he has never enrolled or applied in any course before.
I am talking about those courses only where the financial aid is available.

please help me
Thanks

This option is for trial seven days

Then where is the financial aid option?
Hi @invinciblycool,

I think if you click the Enroll button, you'll see an "audit" link. When you click it, you'll be taken to the course page where you can see the course materials in the audit mode. Then, you'll need to come back to the home page to see the "financial aid" link. Have you tried it?

This Help Article states that "while you wait for your application to be reviewed, you can begin the course immediately in audit mode or free mode. The review process may take up to 15 days".
P.S. Try it on the first course, not the Specialization as a whole.

* Click the Enroll button.

* Select the "audit" mode.

* Then, come back again to the home page of the first course to see the link.
