Cannot join Coursera with school email

Hi, I am trying to take advantage of Coursera’s student email sign-up here:

https://www.coursera.org/for-university-and-college-students

Whenever I put in my school email, it shows the following error:

“Please re-enter your school email address

Sorry, our system needs for you to re-enter your school email address.”

I’ve tried clearing my cache and cookies, using an incognito browser, and a different browser already. The email is verified, and I am not getting access to the certificates without paying for them.

I’m sorry to hear about the difficulties you’re having signing up. You’ll need to contact our support team for help. You can start that process by clicking “Contact Us” at the end of this article

@SpecC , this sounds like a problem you will need to have corrected by going to the Help Center. See the pink highlighted post about how to deal with such technical problems.

Hello @SpecC ,

Has your problem been resolved? If yes, may you share how resolved it?

I would be grateful for your sharing.

I'm facing exactly the same problem as you. I've raised the issue directly to the Help Center. But it's been three days and still, nothing works. I even find their most recent reply quite off-topic and helpless.

@Si-Nguyen Mai The response when I emailed them was this:

“Unfortunately, it seems we could not validate your University-issued email address with our database.”

I’m confused too because this page says:

“Starting today, college and university students around the world can learn and earn certificates on Coursera for free. Current undergraduate, graduate, or recently graduated students with a verified school email can sign up to get free access to over 3,800 courses, 150 Guided Projects, 400 Specializations, and 11 Professional Certificates. They can enroll in programs for free until July 31 — no credit card required. Once enrolled, they will have until Sept. 30, 2020, to complete the programs.”

I’ll get back to this thread when I get a response.

Hi Everyone, has anyone had any resolution to this issue? I'm having the same issue and Help Center doesn't appear to allow us to contact anyone at the moment, doesn't have anywhere to lodge issues, nor has any information been provided as to how to address this? The website states that most known universities are already on a list of recognised domains, however my University which is one of the largest in Australia and ranked in the top 1% worldwide isn't recognised. I'm taken to a page to provide details for verification but the page doesn't work, when you hit the next button nothing happens. I seem to be going round in circles trying to do this?

@Si-Nguyen Mai @Md1

“To have access to the free courses, you have to enter a verified university email address. If you are having issues with it, please contact the administrator from your university. They will be able to give you more information.”

This is all I’m getting. I’m confused because my school email is verified on Coursera and definitely verified by my university. So I don’t understand what the hold up is either, and they aren’t providing any more information.

Hi friends

“Please re-enter your school email address

Sorry, our system needs for you to re-enter your school email address.”

I face the same problem as well. But when I click “x” on the top right, instead of “continue” and ignore it, the page is directed to the university-linked web page. However, when I try to enroll in a course, I don’t see “enroll” option. Is it because my university email address is still not verified or because of a technical problem? Can you guys try what I did, maybe you see a different result than mine.

I’m experiencing the same issue. Many people from my university did not present this problem, just some of us. We haven’t got an answer from Coursera of our institution.

This problem has been bugging many of us since inception.

Enquiries yielding same results and  it seems like the support services are also facing glitches now.

I hope that the Team  is working on the issue and would address the same as  early as possible.

It's a matter of fact  that not every institution provides email id to their students.

The noble initiative of Coursera has touched many hearts and  brought a ray of hope to the  minds to continue learning in the time of COVID 19.

Please help us being a part of it and enhance the #Courseratogether experience.

Many of my friends and I have the same problem. We contacted Help Center and we are waiting for a solution. They couldnt solve so far. We texted again. Hope that it will be solved before it expires.

Still no solution after two weeks? Seems like it won't be resolved before the offer expires.

yeah, doesn’t work for me as well, and I belong to a premier US university. On the website  when I try to sign up for a course, its asking me to purchase it if I want a certificate, so its clearly not “free”, and considering a lot of people are having this issue and they haven’t resolved it after more than 2 weeks, this “free” announcement just seems to be a marketing ploy in my opinion. What a scam!

Like many others in this thread, I also get the popup:

Please re-enter your school email address

Sorry, our system needs for you to re-enter your school email address.

when I enter my student email address. I am excited about this offer, and hope Coursera will soon provide direction as to how we should proceed.

I seem to be having the same problem, even though other people from my university have been able to sign up. I hope this will be resolved before the offer expires.

SAME SAME SAME problem 😞

Same here. I have been able to enroll with my student email but Coursera is trying to charge me with the value of the course. I do not get it, really.

Hi guys, I’m having the same issue. I got a verification email with a link that redirected me to the Coursera page and got my email verified, then it sent me to the page of my school but asked me to re-enter my school’s email as if something went wrong: if I press continue it becomes a loop were I re-enter my email (which has been verified) and then it tells me to re-enter it again, but if I press exit to the message the page of my school is available with all courses in which I can't find the button to enroll.

Pleas suggest!!!!

Hello everyone, I’m facing the same issue. Originally my university didn’t appear on the database, so I shared the link to some colleagues from school to speed it up as they also entered their emails. About a week later, the university was identified, but whenever I enter the email now it gets me into the “re-enter your email” loop. I know it is my school, since in its page the courses they specially promote are listed on top. Yet, even if I ignore the loop and keep on browsing I don’t get the option to enroll into any course.

Any help is appreaciated!

Same problem here. Any help is appreciated.

I have the same problem. Can someone issue this problem ASAP as time is running out to enroll in courses. Thanks in advance.

It keep asking to me to enter my university email id. And when I do it asks me to re enter. Not sure whether this is a technical problem from the site or with the university. Would be great if this gets resolved soon. Those who have the same problem please post it so that the officials will take a look quickly

Did you emailed the problem to Coursera team?

I think your university should have registered in their system.
