Hi! I'm new to Coursera and will be taking the Graphic Design course from CalArts
just wondering what programs do I need? Photoshop, illustrator, inDesign… etc

Is there anything you would recommend to me? I'm a beginner (had some experience in the field a long time ago)

Hi, I know that specialization.

Well generally speaking, courses are self-explanatory as for the first two or three lessons are meant to provide info’s about gradings tools and resources —f eg how to install the needed software.

If you anyway need to know more before subscribing (or even auditing), y have an option to watch a preview by going the course page going the week 1 and clicking the first item (99%) there you have.

Let me add in this particular case we are dealing with the art of doing whatever using whatever so you might expect professional tools like the Adobe suite to be suggested but not mandatory also because (as you could be told in any other course) they are paid - so you can head to some free alternatives (s as Gimp, Inkscape, Krita etc), — but as I said, in this specialilzation your path is to learn using things like a toothbrush or a stone as an artistic medium.

Best luck
